Our family owned and run business is the passion and dream of Nicolas Valanides, his wife Maria Kosma, brother Spyros and sister Georgia. Their vision back in 2018 was to transform their family farms in the scenic villages of Agridia, Chandria and Kyperounta nestled in the lush Troodos mountains of Cyprus, with exotic and unique red raspberries and blackberries.
Soon after their passion project grew to include delectable wild and new to the island Red currants? (word missing) blackcurrants, honeyberries, gooseberries, blueberries and many other color raspberry variations. Mountain Berries continued its remarkable development and growth thanks to future forward perspective and the ingenuity aided by Research and Development fundings such as SUBERBO (2019), CYCLOPS(2020), and FRIETS(2021).
Thankfully, National Funding has also provided the company with the opportunity to multiply their mountainous farm sites, develop their operations with anti-hail systems, net-houses, and secure production. Scaling has continued successfully with the addition of more expert farmers, with additional sites and a far more targeted and specialized approach to entering the local market.
We are proud to have successfully closed the quality berry supply gap by implementing our plan of varied farming sites, polytunnels, and new cultivars, powered by research and innovations.
